is in store for us. Nate is still in Mesa with his brother and things are looking up! He's having a great time and I am a little jealous. Okay... maybe a lot jealous. I mean come on, he's in sunny, 60˚ weather, spending as much time outside as possible and i'm here. getting over a being sick, working, and in the gloomy 30˚ weather shoveling the 2 feet of snow we got one night. Ugh. BUT... he's down there getting things ready for us to move soon. I just hope it's before it gets extremely hot and I get to enjoy the good time of the year. I'll keep you posted.

Can't wait to see these all over the place!

Hope everyone had a great V-Day! We sure did. Now just spending time with the family before Nate leaves me :( He is heading to Mesa, Arizona on Saturday. I have to stay here and work but he deserves a vacation. He hasn't had one in a long time. Have fun babe! I will miss you.

In other news, my little brother Dillon just arrived in South Dakota to sign with Black Hills State University on a football scholarship. We are all so proud of him. He is an amazing guy and he works hard for everything he gets and he more than deserves it.

Wow, I just looked at our blog and remembered I haven't posted in really long time. Your not missing out on too much though. Nothing too exciting has happened. Halloween was fun! We had Bill, Melissa and Olive come up and stay the weekend with us. We took little Olive to the mall to trick or treat and planned on going out but it rained almost all day... so we just stayed home and had a good time... dry! Hope everyone had a good and safeThanksgiving. We spent the day with a friend and her family. Monica and Keith made an awesome dinner with a fried turkey, (my first time having a fried instead of baked turkey and may I say... FABULOUS!) and all the traditional sides. I made a peanut butter tart that was surprisingly delicious and rich. Then we all made gingerbread houses. Also a first for me. They had every kind of candy and we had so much fun. We ate more than we put on the house... but it got finished. Nate's grandma past away last month so we've been spending time with his parents. She was very loved and we will miss her. Nate and I miss you all. Hope to see you soon!

So a little over a week ago my sister flew in from Michigan. We've been having a ton of fun together. I love spending time with my family. It's so easy to let go and be myself with them and I love that I can talk to them about anything. It really helps when you live so far away from everybody. We have gone to Salt Lake City, out to the Salt Lake to take some pictures (posted below are Casey's senior pictures out by saltair at a really cool graffiti train), and yesterday we went up to Lava Hot Springs with some friends! Had such a blast! We went tubing down the river, to the swimming pool with the slides, and then last to the hot pots. So beautiful up there and we were so tired and watered out. But... we are going up to another river in Idaho tomorrow to go again with another group of friends. We've been busy! Update more later! Hope your having a great weekend!

It was a busy couple of weeks there for a while. Nate's brother John Alan came up from Arizona for a family birthday gathering for Tom and his brother John. John (nate's uncle), is from Oregon and drove down here to have a joint celebration with the whole family up in bear lake. We all got to go up to the cabin and spend time with all the family. It was fun! Then getting ready for Lacy's wedding was hectic. It turned out beautiful though. I just wish the rain would've held off til after the reception was over. It rained through the whole reception. We were lucky enough to get through the ceremony without any which was a miracle. Nate was the photographer since I was the maid of honor and couldn't take them. That was on a wednesday, then on that next saturday I had to shoot a wedding for a family friend. That was a long day! You can see all the amazing pictures at islandportraiture.blogspot.com. I just celebrated my birthday yesterday! It was a relaxing day. I wasn't feeling too well though. Nate has been sick this past week and I think I started to come down with the same thing yesterday. Ugh, of all the days to get sick, it had to be my birhday. oh well. There are many other things... but I am still not feeling well but I had enough energy to get on the computer so I wanted to quickly write a little something. Back from Michigan

So... my trip to Michigan was Awesome!! I had so much fun. I got to see all my friends and family. I even worked a little while I was there. Well actually, a lot. My last few days there it seemed like all I did was photo shoots. I am posting them on my other blog, islandportraiture.blogspot.com, if you would like to take a look at the shoots I have done so far. I did a few senior sessions, a couple family sessions and some just because shoots. It's not too bad working while your on vacation if your still making money doing something you love! I didn't do anything too exciting. Just spent time with everyone I could. I wanted to stay longer. But was missing Nate and my pooches. And I was actually excited to get back to work. Anyway... I haven't blogged since before my trip and I just wanted to update you all and post some pics. Peace.

I leave for Michigan on the 14th to go see my family and friends... and although I am really excited and just itching for it to come, the realization of how much I am going to miss my husband is getting to me. Last time I went to Michigan was in March of last year and I had a really good time and was busy, but after a couple days started to miss Nate and our pups way more than I could imagine. I have always wanted to go "home" to the place I know best, but when I went there I realized where my home was. It's wherever Nate is. No matter how much I miss my family and how I dread the fact that we aren't as close as we were... I know the only thing that matters now is getting closer to my love. And even though I am not a huge fan of Utah, I don't notice where I am when I am with him. So I just want to tell you babe that no matter how excited I may seem to leave you, I am going to be 100 times more excited to come home to you! And I am not going anywhere without you anymore (after this time cause i already have a ticket ;) But I love you and just want to say thank you for being so supportive! I can't wait to start a new chapter in a new place with you and I know things are going to work out.

Spring time

This past weekend Nathan and I went down to G-ville to visit his parents. We were actually kinda excited to be getting away from Logan and the terrible cold weather we had been having the last few days. Grantsville is always warmer and the snow there melts so much faster. So when we woke up there in the morning on Sunday... it was already about 60 out! I spent all morning, went to church, and then came home, changed and went right back outside. LOL. I cleaned out our 4runner while Nate and Tom changed the oil. Which is a pretty funny story but i wont embarrass them. (Maybe later Hehe) Anyway it was an amazing weekend. We let the dogs roam outside all day, ( we really need a fenced in yard like them so we dont have to keep an eye on them constantly). So i grabbed my camera and took some of the dogs and Tom's beautiful yard while they played ball. They are so cute and at times like that... I am so glad to have them. If you haven't already heard... Kiddie Kandids went under and screwed all of us employees. It's really sad because I really loved that job and I will miss it so much. It's been really hard to deal with especially with all we're going through right now. But I know we will get through it. I am just glad we went and got our pictures done before all this happened. I feel horrible for all the people that ordered pictures and payed for them and won't get them. Here are the pictures we got!

Nate took this picture of me and Pearl this evening and I just love it soo much I thought I would share it with you. What do you think... isn't it just precious?! I love my girls. They are such loving dogs and so sweet! They wouldn't hurt a fly and I am so glad everyday we have them (when I don't come home to the contents of the trash strewn out across the house LOL). We take WAY too many pictures of our dogs, ( like WAY WAY too many) but they all turn out soo cute! Plus Nate keeps adding to my camera equipment, so I have to practice as much as possible! He recently got me a flash and a new lens. The 55-200mm! and a new case, diffuser, puffer, wireless remote, and I also got a big and little tripod for christmas. I think I am pretty set! I am always craving to take pictures so if you would like me to take a few for you... I will be more than happy to! Free of charge :) unless you come into Kiddie Kandids. LOL. I get to take some family portraits tomorrow for a friend. I'll let you know how they turn out. :)

We went down to Grantsville for Christmas and spent a lot of time with Nathan's parents. It was very relaxing. We got to see Bill and Melissa and lots of friends and family. We have this bad habit of not being able to wait to open our gifts... so everytime we bought something we would wrap it and then a few hours later it would be opened. Haha. I think we just get to excited to see our expressions so we can't help it. Anyway I want to again thank Tammy for the box of Creative Memories Scrapbooking supplies! I have not been able to put it away! So Nate got me an organizer for all my stuff and it is full! Nate has even joined in a made a few pages :) He's really good and creative. We also got our dogs a great big new bed! They LOVE it. Your welcome pooches! LOL

My AWESOME supplies organizer Nathan got me! It's a little full... I may need another one. I just can't stop going to Hobby Lobby and getting more stuff. Nate told me I need to stop or I wont have any room. LOL. But it's something I love and he enjoys it too sometimes. So... let the shopping commence! Hehe.

The end of another year!

This year for Christmas Tammy ( my awesome stepmom) sent me a box full of Creative Memories scrapbooking supplies and crafts. I love it! Although it is getting to Nate cause every spare second I have I am knee deep in paper and supplies! Oh, and I did drag him to Joann Fabrics last night to get more paper and we ended up getting some soft fleece fabric to make a big blanket out of it. Nate wanted blue and gray. It was on sale HALF OFF! So I told him that he needs to get pink and brown and make one for me! We'll see if I get one LOL. Anyway... somehow I walked out of there with no paper, haha, so I dragged him to Hobby Lobby. Honestly... I think he likes it, he had a good time! I'm glad I have a husband that goes to craft stores with me and even helps me pick out girly crafts! Thanks babe :)

So with work, "photography," playing on photoshop 24/7, scrapbooking, and other crafts and things I do in between, I am one busy girl. I guess they do say, busy hands are happy hands! We'll my hands are definitely happy! But we are really enjoying the season and spending a lot of time together. We were reminiscing last night about this year as I was putting together a few scrapbook pages. My trip to Michigan, my sisters visit here, my mom also came down this year too, oh and at the beginning of the year, we got Keela!

Oh and I was forgetful this year in getting my christmas cards out on time. I had them done about a month ago and just got around to getting them and addressing them. So, sorry, they might come a day or two after christmas. LOL Maybe I need to slow down a little and make lists! I haven't even gotten my shopping done! Ugh... ;) Merry Christmas and we Love all of you!

Trip to Grantsville

This weekend we had a few days off so we decided to drive down to see Nate's parents. We got to see them and Bill, Melissa and Olive. It was great to get to relax and spend time with family and friends. The drive home wasn't so relaxing. When we got past Ogden, it was getting bad. And the canyon was worse. I took us twice as long to get home.

Christmas Crafting

Every year I make a new ornament with something significant from that year that we will always remember. I've been putting it off because I couldn't think of anything small to put in the ornament. Although we did do some fun things this year... not a whole lot of them are easy to fit inside. But I think i figured it out! This year we got Keela... so I put some of her hair in it. And some ribbon from when Casey came to visit. Then I just write on it dates and things that we want to remember. So far we have 5. One that says all of our names... and one for each year we are together. Even though we were married in 2007... I made one for 2006 because that's when we met and I put things in it from my college and the MLM for each of us. I think they are cute and I can't wait til our whole tree is filled with them on our 50th anniversary!

Christmas Came Early! ( for me)

So I have wanted a new camera for a while and Nate has been wanting to get me a nice one since I've been learning Photoshop and am obsessed with taking pictures. I figured I would have one under the tree...( which we don't have up yet, shame on me)... but I never expected to come home from a long and busy day from work to see a Nikon D3000 sitting on my kitchen table! What a great gift to come home to! I can't stop taking pictures and learning my new obsession! I am going to take a few classes (came with the camera), and also take some up on campus as soon as possible. Hopefully now I will post more pictures more often. It is the best gift ever, and just shows how much he loves and listens to me. Thanks love! (now... what to get him!?) Haha. I haven't even started shopping for him. Guess I better get on it. This past week I was really sick... so this makes up for all we went through this week.

You are amazing! I love, love, LOVE the soup you made for us! It was phenomenal! Ummm... I make a pretty good meatloaf... if I make that and you make that soup again... can we trade! Haha. Although my meatloaf is probably a fraction of the worth of your cooking! I can't wait til we can get together again soon and play Monopoly and hot tub, Yay! Oh and we have to do crafts and knit! These past couple of weeks have been great! We have been working hard, playing hard and still finding time to relax as well! We just recently went to Olive's blessing down in G-ville. It was so wonderful and we loved seeing Olive! She is so cute and we are so happy for Bill and Melissa! We love you guys so much and only wish the best for your new little family! Have a great time in St. George and we'll see you when you get back. Can't wait to spend the weekend with ya soon! :) We just got back from a fun trip to the movies with a couple of friends and now i can' t sleep. Haha. We are loving spending time together and we're definitely feeling the holiday spirit. We are staying home for the holidays but planning on going to Michigan sometime right after the new year!

I am so excited it's fall! This is my favorite time of the year. We just got out our fall decorations and are starting to put out our Halloween decorations and I love it! The only thing bad about fall is the leaves falling... cause we have such a big yard that it usually takes forever to clean up the leaves. But we got smart and invested in a leaf blower so now i am not so worried. So my new job at Kiddie Kandids is going good. Although it's sometimes hard... it's also a lot of fun. Nate has been real busy at work. He works so much and I appreciate him soo much! Thanks babe:) I love you. We just celebrated our 2 year anniversary on the 15th of September and it was wonderful! Our best friends, Bill and Melissa, just had a baby. They named her Olive Lottie... and we are sooo happy for them! They came up to Logan for the weekend and I got to take her pictures at work. They were so cute and i enjoyed every minute of them being here! (hint hint... you guys need to come back up!) LOL. We are heading down to Grantsville next weekend to attend her baby blessing. We can't wait to see little Olive again! Well my sister is back home :( She was here for two weeks and I miss her so much. We had so much fun while she was here. We went shooting ( it was her first time shooting a gun!) and she liked it, we went and explored the Logan Canyon and that was fun, and she got to ride on the Harley a few times. We are planning a trip to Michigan for after the new year. Can't wait to see my family!

This past weekend my sister Casey flew in from Michigan! I am so happy she's here! She will be staying about a week. We are trying to fit everything in that we can. With me starting my new job, it's hard cause I have to be there too. But at least it's not for very long. We are having a blast! I started my new job last week at Kiddie Kandids and couldn't be happier! It's a great job and lots of fun! So come see me!

So not much has changed for us lately. Our South Dakota trip is postponed for a little later time and although we are sad that we can’t make it to Sturgis… there is always next year! Since we plan on taking the Harley up there next year we are super excited! It can’t come soon enough! The downer though is that I will have to wait a year to see my family but we plan on staying for a while when we do go so that’s good. Soon my little sister Casey will be flying down here from Michigan to spend time with Nate and I. I am so excited! I haven’t seen her since I went to Michigan in March.She just turned 16 and my mom bought her a ticket for her birthday. Since school is starting soon for her, she can only stay a week but I think it will be a blast!

We were getting tired of having two two door vehicles... so we sold the truck and got a 4runner. It's a lot nicer to have the pups in the very back so they are not jumping all over the car! But... Nathan took it out the other day and when he came back there was a HUGE hole in one of the tires and within 15 minutes the tire was completely flat in our driveway. So that is not going to be fun to fix :( Great. Then poor Nathan starts not feeling well (and by that i mean his temp was between 101- 104 degrees for a couple days and he couldn't breathe or keep anything down ) but puts off going to the doctor thinking it's just a simple flu virus... until... he gets worse and worse and we have to rush him to the ER. Talk about worried... i was a wreck! So they got his oxygen up and heart rate down to normal and took some blood tests and then it really got scary. He had to get some chest ex-rays and a cat scan because they were scared he had a Pulmonary Embolism which is not good at all. That came back negative ( thank goodness!) but it did show that he has Pneumonia pretty bad and Empyema. Apparently he had been sick for a while for it to get as bad as it is. So they sent him home with some antibiotics and told us to go see the doc on monday morning. The doc could definitely tell that he was not a whole lot better and put him on oxygen here at home and released him from work until the end of the month. He is feeling a little better. Getting more sleep and fluids down but he has had some pain worsen and if it doesn't get better soon we will be heading back to the ER. We need lots of prayer so if you could please pray for him that would be great. Nates brother in law came over today and gave him a blessing and we greatly appreciate him for that! Thank you!

MOM VISITS!!!!

So about a month ago my wonderful mother flew down here to spend some time with Nathan and I!! It was a surprise! Well, sort of. She called me and told me that she was going to come see me and 24 hours later.... YAY... she was here! Since I don't get to see my mother very much (and nathan has only gotten to see her a few times since we've been together) we spent as much time together as possible. She stayed almost two weeks and it was the best two weeks I could ask for! Thanks mom for everything! I love you! Wish we could see you more. But... we are coming up soon! Are you ready? HAHA

It's been too long!

So it's been about a month since I went to Michigan and I just been to lazy to wanna update our blog so... sorry :( We have been quite busy. Nate has been fixing up our house, (just a bunch of little things here and there) and I am so grateful for all the hard work he does! He really is wonderful at anything he does.
I myself haven't been busy in a productive way other than cleaning and going to work, but I have been trying to get healthier so I go to the gym a lot and I spend time with friends and Nathan whenever I can. Not to mention taking care of Keela is a big job! She is doing better though! Oh and did I mention the weather? So it's been snowing like crazy here! Cold and snowing!!! Like it's the middle of December or something. I am so over the snow. And I Nate is too. I don't blame him when it's 60 degrees one day and then the next it's like a blizzard clear into spring! Utah has some crazy weather!

Michigan was WONDERFUL! I really needed it! It was so amazing to get to see my family and friends!
The best part was getting to spend quality time with my mom, brother and sister. I can not tell you how good it feels to get to see them after 2 years! I can't believe how big they are. When I left they were just these little kids not even in high school, and now they are almost as tall as me and going into 11th grade!?! What happend?! I love them so much. You guys are the best brother and sister I could ever ask for! Utah is kinda hard on me because I am really really close with my mom and brother and sister and I just get really sad sometimes. Hopefully we will get to visit more often. 2 years is really too long to go without my family. I'm crossing my fingers that maybe someday we will get to stay out there for a while. I didn't do a whole lot outside of just spending a lot of time with my family and friends. Everyone came over to my moms house to say hi and I got to go out to see a ton of people. I was really sad to leave but also missing Nathan and my baby girls (Pearl and Keela) like crazy. I just wish I could have both! Thank goodness I have Nathans family or I would be a wreck. I love his parents! They are incredible! Thank you guys for all you do! I was only there for five days... but it was the best five days I have had in a long time!

I love you, and I miss you like crazy. I know we don't get to talk much cause we have separate schedules, but I could talk to you all day everyday! Please don't worry about me. I am doing great! Really I am! It was just overwhelming you know?! Im still Nicki, just older and with a family of my own. I have changed, but for the better. You just didn't have enough time to see. You know i love you so much! It kills me to be here and doing this without you. I need you just as much as you need me. You are doing a great job! I can't believe how wonderful my brother and sister are. It's almost surreal how grown up they are! They are that way because of you! I haven't been there :( Please don't worry about me. You know I can handle it. Im strong like you! Nathan is so wonderful! You will never find a better son-in-law! He is the best husband! I love you and I wish you were here!

Michigan Bound!

So on Thursday morning, way to early for anyone to ever be up, I'll be on a plane to Michigan! I haven't been there in about 2 years so I can't wait to see all my family and friends! I will only be there for about 5 days and i'm sure i'll be so busy seeing everyone that i'll be exhausted when i get back! I have loved Utah and living here, it is quite different than Michigan but I have always missed my family because i was really close with my family and friends. Nathan is going to stay here in Utah and take care of the puppies and work. He was invited and was going to go right up until we booked the ticket. He decided that I should go and spend quality time with my family and friends and he would go next time. That was really sweet of him! So i'm off! I am really excited and I know i will have a really good time! I just hope the weather permits and I have a safe flight and travel. Wish me luck!

Meet Keela!

Keela is the newest member of the Griffiths clan! She was born on January 3, 2009 and is a pure bred chocolate lab. She weighs 12 pounds now but she will be a big dog. We have been toying with the idea of getting a chocolate lab for a while. So Pearl would have a companion and also just cause we love labs. So Friday afternoon we were looking at them online and just decided it was the time. We are really happy to have her. She is so lovable and well behaved. Pearl and Keela are getting along good. They dont know what to think of each other quite yet. They are going to be the best of friends. So far Keela has taken well to her new home and is very comfortable only on the couch. I think it's cause she feels camouflaged so she can hide better. I can hardly see her when she's curled up on the brown couch with the brown pillows. She was such a good sport on the long drive home. We think she'll fit right in with this family! We love her so much already!

New Year!

The new year has been great! Nathan and I are doing really good! We've been spending a lot of time together and it's been wonderful! This year is going to be a great year! I am going to Michigan in March to see my family and friends! I am really excited! Nate is going to stay behind and hold down the fort. He is so awesome for letting me go! I haven't seen my family in about a year and a half. This summer we are going to go to South Dakota again to stay with my dad and go to the rally. Last year was a blast but I want to take Nate this time. Bill and Melissa came up this past weekend. We all went to the Hardware Ranch and took a sleigh ride and saw a bunch of Elk! It was so fun and interesting... although it was freezing we still had a good time! This weekend I am driving up to Blackfoot to see a friend who just had a baby, his name is Christopher Cole Morris, and help her with planning her wedding! Nate is probably going to Sandy to see Bill and Melissa. He is going to hang out with Pearl while I am gone. That pretty much sums up everything. Just working a lot and doing stuff whenever we can. Hope you had a Happy New Year!

Christmas Lights!

One of my favorite things to do around Christmas time is look at all the lights! We drive around town and look at all the houses of lights whenever we can. This year we have been too busy to put any up ourselves like we usually do but December is just flying by without us even noticing. We did manage to get a Christmas Tree! It's beautiful! We put our homemade ornaments on it. Each year we make an ornament. Decorating it and putting something special in it, like something from that year that was special to us like our wedding or trips or family stuff. It's really fun and nice to look at it and remember! So last weekend Nate, Devin and I went to Sandy to see Bill and Melissa and their new puppy Maeby, and went to Temple Square to see all the lights! It was beautiful! There were thousands and thousands of lights! But it was freezing so we took some pictures and headed home to get warm. We had a really fun weekend! This year we are planning to go to Grantsville to see his family for Christmas but then coming home on Christmas day to spend together! I can't wait! Turkey Day!

Nathan and I are finding ourselves having to work during the holidays once again. We had to work on the night before, getting out early Thanksgiving morning. So we spent most of Thanksgiving day sleeping. When we finally woke up in the afternoon, we were sure everyone was done eating but we made it just in time to Nates family's before they put all the good food away. We really wanted to visit his parents but our work schedules just didn't allow it. So we ended up going to Richmond and we got to see some family we hadn't seen since our wedding! That was so much fun! Plus the pies were excellent! When we got home I was exhausted, (plus I had to go into work again that night) so I went back to bed and Nate went back to his cousins to visit. We had a really great time and we hope everyone else did as well! I miss you Mom and Dad! Tell Earl, Tammy, and all my wonderful siblings I love and miss you all! I need you now more than ever through the holidays! We'll visit soon and can't wait to see you! Happy Holidays! Love you all!

The Sacketts and Griffiths under the same roof... OH BOY!

Well Nathan and I finally had the same night off and decided that since we didn't have anything planned we should go to see our good friends Bill and Melissa (which was a long overdue trip!). We loaded Pearl up and headed to Salt Lake. Bill and Melissa have just bought their first house and we were really excited to see it! (when they were all moved in) Then we all went out to dinner and had a lot of fun! When we all get together there is never a dull moment! Between talking, laughing and singing there is hardly time to catch a breath! We always have fun with the Sacketts! I was sure I was going to beat Bill at Monopoly, but as soon as the game started thats when it ended.... well for everyone but Bill. I hung in there for awhile, but i was the first one out! Bill won the game! Then we played some Rock band! That was fun! Over all it was such a fun night! The next day Bill and Melissa surprised me by getting a puppy! A little Black Lab only 2 months old. They named her Maeby. She was sooo cute and shy! Pearl was so excited to have a friend to play with. Only it will take a little longer for her to get used to things. We are planning on going down in a couple weeks so by then she will be more playful and exciting! We are so happy Pearl has a friend to play with now!

We each have our own profiles for our friends and family but this is wonderful because it is about both of us! We are new to blogging so sorry if this is lame! We both work quite a bit. Never having the same times off so that's not always easy. We both work graves but opposite nights which blows. We have a sixteen month old purebred yellow lab named Pearl. She is a handful but we couldn't live without her! We both come from small towns. I was born in South Dakota but moved to Michigan for high school and Nathan is grew up in Utah! We love to go out as much as possible and hang with friends. We plan on starting a family after college and settling down here in Utah. But as for now, we're just living life and having fun!
